Q: Which Levels should I use?

Definitely the new Levels. Even when they are not official yet, they are created with nowadays unicycling in mind and are backed up with scientific research to ensure a rock-solid learning experience.

Q: What’s wrong with the old Levels?

Research about unicycling revealed the problems with the old levels. The disadvantages outnumber the advantages by a far lead. Additionally the old levels have shown to deal more harm than help. See Thomas Gossmann’s talk at Unicon 16 analyzing the Skill Levels and the filtering the good parts.

Q: Where can I get the new Levels tested?

Nowhere yet. That’s on our todo (see next question). However there is no need for an official test yet. As Skill Levels are used for an individual to monitor their personal progress in learning unicycling skills, you can learn them without being officially tested.

Q: What needs to be done to make the Levels official?

Although the contents are done, there is still more to do.

  1. Get the education program started at the IUF (To further develop the Skill Levels + educate testers)
  2. Detailed skill descriptions (with movement errors)
  3. Define the testing routine
  4. Integration into the IUF

Once we are done with #1 we can follow with the other items.
