Riding home

I figured that it should be possible, in the small hours of the
morning when there's not much traffic, to ride all the way home from
campus (3.3 miles) without dismounting. In the small hours of yesterday
morning I did it. It wasn't a particularly wise idea, since I was
wearing jeans at the time, but I managed to ride through the pain.

I had to ride on the road some of the way, including riding across a
crossroads in front of a police car that was waiting at the red light. I
finally fell off about 30 yards from my door, when I was suddenly blinded
by one of those lights with an infra-red sensor. I *really* hate those
things.
